Computer Vision Group

The Computer Vision Group at Colorado State University focuses on semantic object recognition in complex domains. The challenge of object recognition has lead us to address computer vision in the broader context of Artificial Intelligence, and to integrate techniques from empirical evaluation and machine learning. Our goal is to use these techniques to develop computer vision systems whose behaviors are both reliable and understood.

We are actively studying human face recognition algorithms and activity recognition in video. Other areas of expertise and interest include embedded real-time computer vision, 3D model-based object recognition and adaptive object recognition under the control of Markov processes.

We have now released the Optimized Correlation Output Filters Toolset (OCOFTools) (October 24, 2012)

Current Research

Biomimetic Vision

We are using computer vision techniques to study and model the human expert object recognition pathway . Focus of study includes the early vision system, focus of attention, ego-motion, hierarchical clustering, and appearance based matching.

Face Recognition

We have three active research areas in face recognition:
