Dr. Nicole Perna (cv attached) is an evolutionary biologist/geneticist in the Genetics Department at UW, and has a long history of using/developing computational genomics tools. She, in fact, was the founding director of the U. Wisconsin bioinformatics core. Nicole teaches computational biology approaches and her research group developed a program widely used in microbial genomics called MAUVE. Nicole is known to be an excellent collaborator, and Amy Charkowski (new Head in BSPM) indicated that her and her husband are a powerful team on the UW campus. Dr. Jeremy Glasner is also has strong experience and expertise in bioinformatics. Jeremy is currently working with Nicole and her collaborators as a bioinformatics consultant as well as working as part of the Bioinformatics Core where he both teaches and consults.
