CASI is a program of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE). It provides matching funds for companies that want to collaborate with research universities on advanced software projects. It also provides seed grants to university researchers. Projects include, but are not limited to software engineering, neural networks, expert systems, data base systems, and human-computer interface.
CASI has a graduated membership fee and cost share structure for its projects based on the size of the business. Cost share varies from 10% for small businesses to 50% for large businesses. Membership fee is discounted (50%) for members in good standing with the Colorado Software Association. In addition, participating universities waive indirect cost rates on CASI projects (which are around 50% of the direct costs).
It is also possible to have projects outside of this competitive proposal process [Unsolicited TTG Program] . In this case the collaborating company pays all direct costs, the universities still waive the indirect costs (about 50% of direct costs) and CASI provides the same quality assurance activities as for the cost-shared projects. In either case, the CASI partnership provides a great way to leverage research dollars.
You are invited to submit short business need descriptions at any time. Email them to the CASI coordinator Susan Rogers or fill out the research abstract form.
