Application Deadlines *
| Deadline Type | Fall Admission | Spring Admission |
|---|---|---|
| Admission Only | June 1** | November 1** |
| Financial Assistance | February 1*** | October 1*** |
* These deadlines are for receipt of all application documentation in the pre-screening system. If you are starting the application process on these dates, you are applying too late.
** These dates may not allow enough time for an international applicant to receive a visa.
*** For full consideration, you should meet these deadlines. Late applications will may be considered if financial support is still available (this is rare).
Step 1: Pre-Screening
To start the Pre-Screen Process follow this LINK. The process involves completing forms with your academic information including reference names and email addresses, test scores, background information, and uploading all documentation.
The pre-screen process is free. (NOTE: we will not consider formal applications from students who have not completed the pre-screen process.)
If the CS Dept. Graduate Admissions Committee believes you have a good chance of admission you will be notified by email to complete the formal admission process (see below). If the Committee believes you have no chance of being admitted, you will be notified by email of this as well. In that case, you should not submit a formal application.
Step 2: Formal Graduate Application
If you are asked to submit a formal application after the pre-screening process, only then should you complete the formal Online Application Form with the Graduate School.
DO NOT SUBMIT A FORMAL APPLICATION UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE PRE-SCREEN PROCESS AND BEEN APPROVED BY THE CS DEPT. -- SUCH APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. (If you submitted an application before 15 August 2011, you should complete the formal application process. Anyone wishing to apply after this date must use the Pre-Screen process.)
Once you have completed the Pre-screen process, and have been asked to apply (and have completed the online Graduate School Application form), you only need to send official transcripts and test scores (plus financial statement for international students) to complete your formal application.
| Transcripts | Transcripts should be sent directly to: Graduate Admissions Computer Science Department Colorado State University Fort Collins, CO 80523.
|
| Test Scores | Official GRE General Test scores, must be reported by ETS
(institution code: R4075). GRE scores are required for all MS and Ph.D. applicants.
GRE scores are strongly recommended for all MCS applicants (on campus or online), but not
required. We do not waive the GRE requirement for any PhD or MS applicants.
Official TOEFL or IELTS scores, reported by ETS (institution code: 4075). In general, all applicants from countries in which English is not the official and primary language, and who do not have an undergraduate or graduate degree from a country in which the official language is English (Canada, U.K., Australia, USA, New Zealand, etc.) must submit TOEFL scores. The minimum English proficiency score for applicants to our graduate degree programs is 580 (237 on the computer-based test, 92 on the internet based test, 6.5 on the IELTS). |
| Financial Statement | A financial statement is required for international applicants without departmental assistantship support. |
