Colorado State University Computer Science Department

Lab Help Resources:

Lab Ops
Lab Ops are on duty in both the North and South labs. They help with general logic, syntax, commands and machinery troubleshooting. They are not tutors.

GTAs
Graduate Students who are Teaching Assistants for classes work specific hours in the labs. In addition to the above lab op duties, they hold office hours for their classes during their lab shifts.

Checkout Materials
Books, class materials, diskettes, and videos are available for checkout in the South lab. No materials are to leave the labs. Students must have a valid ID to check materials for use.

The inventory of checkout materials changes periodically with class needs.

Video Help
The CS department has 32 Unix tapes (developed in 89) that may help introduce new users to the Unix operating sytem. In addition, classes that are taped for SURGE are kept in the South lab for viewing for a period of two weeks. There are two viewing stations in the South lab, in addition to those available in Morgan Library.

ACNS video tapes are available for use from ACNS.

Computing Systems Documentation
Basic help and answers to frequently asked questions are available from the department's Computing Systems webpage.

Trouble Program
Type 'trouble' at the prompt on CS department Unix machines to report a bug, request recovery of a file, or make a suggestion.
