Focus

The IEEE International Conference on Software Testing Verification and Validation (ICST) is a new forum bridging research and practice in many areas related to software quality. ICST will be composed of both research and industry tracks, plus a large number of workshops on specialized topics. It will cover areas such as test-driven development, model-based software testing, domain specific testing (e.g., third party components, databases), empirical studies of testing techniques and their cost effectiveness, and the technology transfer of test technologies. Other areas related to software quality assurance will also be addressed, as described below. The charter of ICST specifies rules ensuring the transparent, democratic, and open management of the conference.

Topics

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Software testing theory and practice
  • Model-based testing
  • Domain specific testing including, but not limited to, security testing, web services testing, database testing, and OO software testing
  • Verification & validation
  • Quality assurance
  • Model checking
  • Empirical studies
  • Metrics
  • Inspections
  • Tools
  • Testability and diagnosability
  • Design for testability
  • Testing education
  • Testing in multidisciplinary applications
  • Embedded software
  • Technology transfer
  • Model-Driven Engineering
  • Novel approaches to software reliability assessment

Conference proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society.

Special Issue of STVR

Authors of best papers from the conference will be invited to revise and submit extended versions of their papers for publication consideration in a special issue of Software Testing, Verification, and Reliability, a Wiley journal.

ICST 2009

ICST 2009 will be held in Denver in April 2009, with Anneliese Andrews as General Chair and Jeff Offutt and Per Runeson as co-Program Chairs. More details will be available soon.

Proposals for ICST Conferences

We are committed to planning conference locations at least two years in advance. If you are interested in hosting a conference, please contact any member of the Steering Committee. We would like to begin a discussion as early as possible so that we can include your proposal into our long-term plans and so that future organizers can be included in previous conferences.
