FREE IBM THINKPAD RAFFLE What?: IBM Jeopardy When?: April 18, 2004 @ 1:30 PM Where?: LSC Senate Chambers Where Do I Sign Up?: Sign ups begin Friday, April 9th at 3:00 PM with Carol Calliham at USC 2nd Floor, room 211. There will be a registration fee of $3. Up to nine teams will compete for prizes donated by IBM. Teams sign up, first come first served, at the Computer Science Main Office, USC 211. Form your own team and compete, or just come for the fun. An IBM ThinkPad Laptop will be raffled off (proceeds go to the ACM Club). A good game needs a great audience! Anyone who wishes to attend and watch is welcome. Members of the audience may join in the IBM LAPTOP raffle (see rules below). RULES FOR IBM JEOPARDY The games will be played in a fashion similar to the TV game show Jeopardy. There will be up to nine teams competing. In the first round, there will be three games involving three teams each. The teams to winning these three games will progress to the final team round. The members of the team winning this round will have an opportunity to play as individuals against each other for the grand prize. There must be three people on a team. Team members must be currently enrolled CS, CIS, or ENG undergraduate or graduate students. Teams must register, first come first served, at the main office of the Computer Science Department. There is a registration fee of $3 per team. Teams will indicate they wish to answer a question using a clicker, or should that fail, a flag. The first team to signal will be allowed to answer. Answers must be in the form of a question. Teams must given answers in a timely fashion after signaling. The team/individual with the most points at the end wins that game. If a team/individual has negative points after board is cleared, the team/individual is eliminated from the final jeopardy question. For the Final jeopardy question you may risk up to but not over your total accumulated points NO ACTUAL CASH WILL BE GIVEN OUT Game begins at 1:30PM. Order of teams in play will be chosen at random and announced at the start. RULES FOR IBM LAPTOP RAFFLE A new IBM ThinkPad will be raffled off at the end of the final jeopardy game. Members of teams playing in the Jeopardy tournament automatically get one raffle ticket each. Anyone attending the event may obtain raffled tickets. A donation of one dollar to the ACM Club is requested for each ticket. The individual holding the winning ticket MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN THE LAPTOP. See you there!
