November 5

Who: Two companies, Ombud and Total Benchmark Solutions

What: A presentation

Katie McReynolds from Ombud, a start-up company in Boulder, will be starting the presentation on Monday.

Ombud is a Social Evaluation platform for Enterprise Business Technology that enables people engaged with enterprise technology to showcase their experience, while also tapping the knowledge of other domain experts.

Travis Stegeman from Total Benchmark Solutions will be giving a short presentation on the Model/View/Controller framework which is a popular framework in the web app development world and also cover available internships.

These are a few of really exciting presentations from companies looking to hire so please try and make it!

October 29

Who: HP!

What: HP is coming!

Lawrence Mauch, along with other managers, will be coming to talk about current projects that are being worked on with Java development, UI development, as well as a few other adjacent areas to be decided over the next few days.

They are looking to fill at least 25 positions in the Fort Collins area as well as theSan Francisco area for the various positions. Students that are graduating in May or December can apply for full-time positions; those who are not graduating soon can apply for internships.

Please bring your updated resumes and dress to impress.

Who: ACM OFFICERS

What: Intercollegiate Programming Competition Meeting

On this day we will discuss the vast wonderfulness that is ICPC. ICPC is occuring on this upcoming weekend and we should be prepared to enjoy the expereince. Oh, did we mention that ICPC comes with membership to the big ACM and not just us? So yeah, drop by, have fun, solve practice problems, figure out how we're getting to Utah, and go be awesome!

Who: SliCE

What: Social Interactions

One of my biggest mistakes as an incoming freshman was to assume I was in a field of study where I would have limited interactions with others. Whether collaborating in a team, writing an email, or attending weekly meetings, communication is essential in the "real world." Join ACM on Monday October 8 at 5:00 pm to discuss topics such as "How to be Socially Excellent" and "How to get the Most out of your Interactions with Others" with SLiCE representative Tina.

What: Regular Expressions - Parsing the Easy Way

Summary: Parsing in most languages is difficult and usually a mess. Regular expressions is a way to turn lines of parsing code into one, easy to read and understandable statement. The purpose of this talk is to show this simple, yet powerful tool in an applicable manner so you can actually use it. Did I mention it makes programming homework easier?

Who: Owen Armstrong

What: From Terminal to Tunneling and Beyond

Do you want to get beyond the basics and learn to use the terminal effectively? Come to the ACM meeting this Monday at 5:00 PM and learn how to use checkin/peek/grade without typing the full path name, work on a CS department machine from the comfort of your own home, encrypt your traffic on a public network, and more!
