Tell Me What Your Home Directory Is

The purpose of this assignment is to make sure that you can login to a Linux system and use the checkin program. This way, you’re sure that your login and password work before you need them for homework #1. This assignment is not optional.

Make sure that you know the difference between your Linux login/password, which only works on CS Department computers, and your EID, which is CSU-wide.

Create a file called Fall13 (it starts with a capital letter) that contains the path of your home directory. Nothing else, just the path. Do this by logging on to a CS Department Linux system, and executing the pwd command. You could redirect the output to the file, or just use copy-and-paste and an editor. Here's one way to do it:

    cd
    pwd >Fall13

The path should start with a slash, and end with your CS Department login. For example, mine is: /s/parsons/d/fac/applin
