Assignment: Time Management
Instructions:
You have completed 5 weeks of the fall semester. There are 10 weeks to go. Use the
attached semester at a glance calendar (double check dates), a day planner, electronic calendar, or spreadsheet to record all major assignment and test dates, work commitments,
club activities, etc. for the next 11 weeks. Once you do this, submit the following information:
- Which of these 10 weeks (excluding finals week) will be the toughest week for you time-wise AND why?
- What can you do to make that week more successful in terms of time management? Consider the following time management principles:
- Dropping tasks, such as skip going to a basketball game that week
- Changing due dates on tasks where that flexibility is available, such as get a paper done the week before or asking for an
extension on a paper in a class where there may be flexibility
- Getting help on tasks where that option is available, such as asking someone if they will trade a shift of work with you.
- Doing something differently, such as taking the time to improve a basic skill you need in order to be more efficient, and
so being able to do the task more efficiently overall.
- State which principles you are following. i.e.
- People: who can help with your project?
- Time: Can you change date/schedule?
- Features: can prioritize what is to be included in the project?
- Approach: Change way you think about the problem
