Late and Makeup Policy |
Mid-semester and Final Exams: Make-up exams are only given in extraordinary circumstances (e.g., illness, death of family member). Students must consult with the instructor as soon as possible, preferably before the start of the exam. Course examination dates are listed in the syllabus; be aware of them and plan accordingly. No make-ups will be given for missed quizzes. Programming assignments are to be submitted electronically using checkin system. Always check the assignment page for due dates.Assignments can be submitted up to a maximum of 2 days past the deadline. There will be a deduction of 10 % (of the total score for the assignment) as the penalty per day. For example, if the assignment was due at 5:00 pm on Thursday: (1) you will lose 10 % of the total score if you submit between 5:01 pm Thursday and 5:00 pm Friday, (2) if you submit between 5:01 pm Friday and 5:00pm Saturday, you will lose 20% of the points set aside for this assignment. (3) No submissions will be accepted after 5:00pm on Saturday and you will be given a 0 for that assignment. Written assignments are to be submitted in class. These may be handwritten, but must be legible. The instructors and TAs reserve the right to decide whether or not a paper is legible. Late assignments are accepted in class(lecture) on any first class after the original due date, and will receive a 10% late penalty. |
Grading |
The teaching assistant grades everything. If you don’t like your score, talk with him first, then to your instructor if you still disagree. We will try our best to return assignments within 5 working days after the end of the late period. Exams will be returned within 5 working days of when they are taken. Grades will be posted to RamCT. Written assignments and exams will be returned in lecture or recitation. Programming assignment feedback will be available in designated files on the LINUX file system. Programs will be executed on the Linux machines in the open lab. Make sure your code runs successfully on those machines. Your grade will include points for correctly executing multiple test cases, using assigned data structures, employing good OO style and commenting appropriately. Calculation of final grade is total of points for all of the categories devided by 10. |
