Sometime in February of 2001, Alexander Bilstein contacted me expressing interest in writing a separate FAQ for the 7800. Unlike the 5200 which begged to have its own FAQ, I believed and still believe that the 2600 and 7800 overlap much of the same territory and that two separate FAQs are not warranted. However, as I have noted many times in the past, it is not *my* FAQ, but rather it belongs to the community at large and to all of the people who have contributed to it. It made no sense to me to fight a 7800 FAQ, since Alex probably would have gone ahead with it anyway and indeed, I could see the arguments in favor of it. However, I advised that there should be no duplication between the two documents. For example, even though the 7800 plays most 2600 games, there shouldn't be entries in the 7800 that give cart lists for the 2600. At worst, there should just be a pointer to the 2600 entry; better would be a note at the top saying that all 2600-specific stuff is in the 2600 FAQ. At any rate, I agreed to a split with the hope that duplication would be minimized. I then realized that the easiest way for this to happen was for one person to maintain both the 2600 and 7800 FAQs, at least until the 7800 FAQ got off the ground. Since Alex wanted the split and seemed amenable to taking over the 2600 FAQ as well, I turned it over to him. Also, the maintaining of the FAQ was becoming less and less fun for me; instead of trolling for new information and saying "that's interesting" or "that's cool," I heard myself complaining that I'd have to add the info to the FAQ. It was time to let someone else take the reins. Zube
