Bringing a bike
A bike is an invaluable tool in Fort Collins. Unlike in the mountains, Colorado weather in the foothills allows for bike transportation nearly year round (if you can stand the cold). Fort Collins itself is a very bike friendly place, with many dedicated bike lanes and well maintained trails throughout the city that can get you just about anywhere. The City of Fort Collins provides a detailed bike map on this page that is frequently updated. There are bike racks all across the city and more than enough on the university grounds itself.
The university bicycle regulations can be found here. Registration is required for all bicycles that are to be used on campus. There is a nominal one-time fee for registering your bike with the university and (they say) the sticker they give you serves as a theft deterrant. Even so, the GSA still fully endorses the use of bicycle locks as a primary theft prevention device.
For those without a bike, or whose bike is in need of some tender loving care, there are many good bike shops peppered around Fort Collins. Here is a short list of the shops closest to the university:
- Lee's Cyclery
- Full Cycle
- Recycled Cycles (with one location in CSU's Lory Student Center)
- Performance Bicycle
