Fall 2009 GTA
This semester I am the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Fall 2009 CS545 distance learning course.
About Me
I am nearing completion of my Masters degree. I expect to graduate this semester if all goes well with my thesis!
I worked at HP for a year as a development intern after I received my bachelors, after which I returned to finish
my Masters. I am currently working on evaluating
several distributed computing frameworks, including Hadoop, and MPI. The goal is to get an idea of the pros and cons
of each framework. The frameworks are being evaluated on variant of the Expectation Maximization algorithm (EM), which
is a CPU intensive task involving a very large number of singular value decompositions on large matrices with the goal of
clustering data points. My primary interests are in AI, although HPC has evolved into a strong secondary interest.
Computer vision has drawn the majority of my interest in AI in large part due to the enthusiasm and expertise of Dr. Bruce Draper.
I currently hold a 3.9 GPA, and hope to keep it until graduation!
My non-professional interests currently include cycling, nitro-rc truck bashing, hiking, running, and music.

This webpage is a work in progress. In addition to updated information, I will eventually include additional items such as a resume,
and downloads of some usefull programs I have written over the years.
