JunkBusterMT -- multithreaded JunkBuster compatible proxy
=========================================================

How to compile
--------------
To compile, simply type make. You need either Linux, Solaris,
a windows box with mingw installed. The makefile automatically
figures out what to do on each of these systems. I don't know what
would happen on any other architectures.

How to run
----------
Pre-compiled binaries for windows (jbmt.exe) and Linux (jbmt) are
included for your convenience.
To start, type

	jbmt junkbstr.ini

at the command prompt. On Windows, use the command prompt from mingw32.bat
(see below).

How to set up mingw32 and pthreads on windows:
----------------------------------------------
* Download and install gcc-2.95.2-msvcrt.exe from
	ftp://ftp.nanotech.wisc.edu/pub/khan/gnu-win32/mingw32/gcc-2.95.2/
(Let's assume the install path is c:\gcc-2.95.2\)

* Download and install pthreads-2000-12-29.exe from
	ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/pthreads-win32/
(This will unpack into c:\PTHREADS\* and c:\DLL\* -- We only need the DLL
   stuff!)

* In order to avoid having to mess around with -Ic:\DLL\ and -Lc:\DLL\ in the
makefile (I've tried and it still didn't work), we're going to merge the
pthreads stuff into the gcc stuff:

	- copy all the *.dll and the pthread.def files from c:\DLL to
	  c:\gcc-2.95.2\bin\
	- copy all the *.h files from c:\DLL to
	  c:\gcc-2.95.2\i386-mingw32msvc\include\
	- copy all *.lib and *.a files from c:\DLL to
          c:\gcc-2.95.2\i386-mingw32msvc\lib\

* A file (gcc.dll) is missing from the pthreads-2000-12-29.exe distribution.
  Get it from
	ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/pthreads-win32/pthreads-dll-2000-12-29/
  and copy it to c:\gcc-2.95.2\bin\

* There is a typo in the pthread.h include file:
	- search the file for the string "ptw32_leanup_t" and
	- replace with the string "ptw32_cleanup_t"

* Modify the mingw32.bat file in c:\gcc-2.95.2 to start a command tool by
appending a line containing "cmd.exe" at the end of the file (I'm on a
windows 2000 box, so maybe it can also be "command.com", I don't know).

* You're done. Click on the mingw32.bat icon to start a command window in which
you can compile JunkBusterMT. Change directory to junkbuster, and type make.

Enjoy,

Gabriel
