Internet voting seems like an obviously good idea, but its adoption has been very slow in the US and around the world. The issue is frequently summarized as "if I can bank online, why can't I vote online", and many have suggested that blockchains are the solution (never mind what the problem is). In this talk, we'll explore the reasons why internet voting is moving slowly, including the impact on voter turnout, issues of security and privacy, and social/political considerations.
