Academics

CS314 Lecture Computer science is a challenging academic discipline, but the rewards of earning a CS degree are well worth the effort.

In recent years, the salaries for Computer Science have overtaken Computer Engineering as the industry shifts its focus from hardware to software. At the undergraduate level, we are extremely successful placing students in industry. Our graduates are highly sought after by major high-tech, computer software, and aerospace companies. We are regularly in the top five universities in the world placing graduates at Hewlett-Packard, and we are occasionally number one. In addition, employment opportunities are rapidly growing in small and medium sized companies.

At the graduate level, we have had a successful online masters program for 30 years, and our program is recognized as one of the best in the nation. We also have a strong, well-funded research program with over $15 million in active grants and research expenditures of about 3 million dollars annually. Our graduates are hired for academic positions as well as positions at national and industry research labs.

We encourage independent thinking, hard work, and initiative in our students. Please take advantage of all the opportunities our department and CSU have to offer. We are here to help you succeed!
