We are excited to share the news that the 2020 Rocky Mountain Celebration of Women in Computing will be held October 29 and 30 at the Embassy Suites in Boulder, Colorado. This biennial event provides a venue for current and future computing professionals to gain confidence in their skills, network with each other, and learn from accomplished technical attendees. In addition to renowned keynote speakers, the conference will feature two tracks: a track aimed at undergraduate and graduate level computing majors and a track designed for industry professionals. There will also be a shorter track for high school students on Thursday afternoon and evening.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT POSTERS WITH OPTIONAL DEMOS

Have you been involved in a research project, internship, co-op, service-learning, outreach, course project, or other interesting experience related to computer science or information technology? Here’s your opportunity to share your experience, including demos for interactive projects.

GRADUATE STUDENT TALKS

Whether you are preparing for your first formal research talk or your first faculty job, a graduate student talk is an excellent opportunity to practice presenting for a general technical audience. We encourage talks that cover specific research projects, general research areas, and outreach experiences.

DEMOS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Studies show that the more women are involved in STEM activities during their early education experience, the greater the chances of them pursing a STEM degree and career. If you have an interactive software tool or experience that would interest high school students this is a great opportunity to share!

FACULTY/INDUSTRY LIGHTNING TALKS

With five minutes and 20 slides, this is an excellent opportunity to hone your presentation skills while highlighting exciting computing research or efforts to encourage women in computing.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER (BOFs)

These informal discussion groups feature specific topics of interest such as careers, education, outreach, challenges, work-life balance, campus computing groups, imposter syndrome, choosing a research topic, finishing a dissertation, and more.

WORKSHOPS

RMCWIC 2020 welcomes proposals for workshops on both technical and professional topics. The target audiences are high school students, undergraduate and graduate students, and computing professionals. Workshops will be 50 minutes in length.

PANELS

We welcome proposals for panels on both technical and professional topics. The target audiences are high school students, undergraduate and graduate students, and computing professionals.
